We interviewed Mr. Ochi, their Managing Director at Taiwan branch and Ms. Chuang, their business administrator why they decided to introduce Z.com Payment for their business expansion in Taiwan.

PIXTA’s E-commerce business in Taiwan

Having established our local entity in July 2015, we are three years into our Taiwan business as of 2018. We knew the purchases from Taiwan through our Chinese-language page originally made bigger contribution than other countries, and we decided on making a full-scale entry into the market because a survey result showed a great demand for the materials with Japan’s scenery and Japanese models.
With the opening of our Taiwan site, the numbers of materials and creators, both professional and amateur, are steadily on the rise. Taiwanese creators’ photos tend to have a strong Asian flavor and are popular among Japanese users.

What led you to install Z.com Payment?

We started out with a cross-border E-commerce when we advanced in Taiwan. However, this meant that our users had to pay currency exchange fees because back then, we simply adopted a credit card payment solution targeting Japan’s domestic market. The other issue was that we only accepted payments by credit cards.
We introduced GMO-PG’s Z.com Payment because we knew it resolves our issues.

What did you focus on when selecting a payment service provider?

We reviewed plans by multiple payment service providers and chose GMO-PG for their biggest advantage, multi-language support (Japanese, Chinese and English). It really helps in delivering a smooth operation since GMO-PG contacts our development staff in Vietnam in English and our operational staff in Taiwan in Chinese.

How do you like our services post-installation?

Prior to Z.com Payment installation, we had received inquiries on whether we accept additional payment methods besides credit cards almost on a weekly basis. It suggests that non-credit card payment was more popular in Taiwan than we had thought.
We are happy with the installation decision since Z.com Payment’s wide-ranging options include the convenience store payment and the bank transfer, allowing us to capture users that we previously could not with a credit card payment option alone.
We feel that adding a wider variety of payment methods certainly played a role in our support level improvement.

How do you like our support system?

For system development and connection, GMO-PG has a dedicated team which gives us help whenever we have a question. The same goes for their team in Taiwan, who gives us prompt support.
