Announcement of Participation in the "Parking Lot ETC Social Experiment" in the Three Major Metropolitan Areas

(TSE Mothers: Securities Code: 3769 Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo Capital: 628 million yen President & Chief Executive Officer: Issei Ainoura URL: http://www.gmo-pg.com hereinafter referred to as GMO-PG) We are pleased to announce that JCB Co., Ltd., Sumitomo Mitsui Card Company, Limited, UFJ NICOS Co., Ltd., Toyota Finance Co., Ltd. and others will participate in the "Parking Lot ETC Social Experiment," a social experiment on the operation of parking lot ETC using existing ETC units (8.17 million units as of the end of August 2005) conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (Parking Lot Development Promotion Organization).

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) is working to realize a "smart way" that integrates and incorporates advanced ITS (Note 1) technology, and in August 2004, the Smart Way Promotion Council proposed "ITS to the second stage."

This experiment will be conducted in November at public parking lots in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya as part of the ITS service payment, which is expected to be full-scale from 2007.

The Parking Lot ETC System is a series of operational systems that utilize DSRC (Note 2) communication technology to perform automatic gate entry and exit to parking lots and payment cashless parking fees using existing ETC units currently used on expressways, etc.

As a system for exchanging information between the on-board unit and the roadside unit, it is used for ETC (automatic toll collection system) at toll booths on toll roads. The range that can be communicated is about a few meters to about 30 meters. It is a short-range communication system for cars with a frequency band of 5.8 GHz and a transmission speed of 4 Mbps. The on-board unit also has a built-in oscillator, and a transceiver system is adopted in which the on-board unit and the roadside unit emit radio waves to each other on an equal footing.
