GMO Payment Gateway, Inc.

GMO Payment Gateway Co., Ltd. (TSE Mothers, Securities Code: 3769, Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President & Chief Executive Officer: Issei Ainoura hereinafter referred to as "GMO-PG"), which operates a non-face-to-face Credit card payment business in the GMO Internet Group), announced on May 1, 2007 that it will launch a "public fund Credit card payment Service" for municipalities. We will start to provide the following services.

On February 5, 2007, it was announced that this service will be adopted as a data processing service for credit card payments for water bills, etc., scheduled to be launched by the Bureau of Waterworks of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

Background and Summary

Today's non-face-to-face Credit card payment market is expanding not only in the field of product sales but also in the fields of electricity, gas, NHK broadcast reception fees, etc., against the backdrop of consumers' payment option needs and the government's new IT reform strategy. It is now possible to collect water bills with a credit card.

As a result, the Bureau of Waterworks of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will start payment of charges by credit card by the end of fiscal 2007. It has been decided that GMO-PG's "public fund Credit card payment Service" will be adopted as a data processing service such as application acceptance, billing and clearing, and inquiries related to credit card payment.

About GMO-PG's "public fund Credit card payment Service"

This service is provided by the ASP service, and it can be introduced in a short period of time because it centralizes the account update service that performs credit card validity checking, sales billing, and card information update operations. We also provide an online application function that supports 3-D Secure authentication.

In addition, Tokyo residents will be able to enjoy benefits such as "being able to use their own credit card", "being able to accumulate points from the credit card company while paying payment", and "payment days will be consolidated and the convenience of household budget management will be improved".

In addition, GMO-PG has obtained conformity certification to ISMS Certification Standard Ver. 2.0, a third-party certification standard that is considered to be a global standard for information security management in the scope of all business sites, and the business operation system conforms to the basic concept of ISMS, which is to maintain and improve the "confidentiality," "integrity," and "availability" of information assets in a well-balanced manner. Customers can use the service with peace of mind.

Future Prospects

Japan's current private final consumption expenditure is 287 trillion yen*, but the amount of Credit card payment handled is only about 29 trillion yen. The public fund market, which is a field where credit cards have not yet been introduced, is said to be 20 trillion yen ~ 50 trillion yen, and the application of this market to credit card payments is expected to lead to further expansion of the credit card market in the future, as well as improvements in the convenience of people's lives and improvement in the operational efficiency of the public sector.

GMO-PG has been developing markets for fields where credit cards have not yet been introduced, such as utility charge and public fund, and in 2006 we provided Credit card payment services for fields such as NHK subscription fees, rent, and food delivery (home delivery and delivery). On February 5 of this year, it will be adopted for credit card payment of water bills, which is scheduled to start by the Bureau of Waterworks of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. We will use this recruitment as an impetus to pay other taxes and provide services to municipalities nationwide. We will strive to provide and promote the use of monthly Credit card payment services in the field of payment that are closely related to daily life.
