GMO Payment Gateway, Inc. Overview

In FY20, Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture started from FY18 Thailand and started paying by credit card for light vehicle taxes using the Internet for the first time in Japan as a communication medium. This makes it possible to pay light vehicle taxes not only from a computer but also from a mobile phone using the Internet on the go.

GMO-PG, as a Credit card payment ASP operator, will provide data processing services for credit card payments of light vehicle taxes using mobile phones to Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture.

背景

In Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture, we conducted the nation's first demonstration study of credit card payment (light vehicle taxes) using the Internet in FY18, and Actual exceeded expectations. In regular operation from FY19, the "public fund Credit card payment Service" provided by GMO-PG was introduced, and both the number of payments and the payment utilization rate nearly doubled compared to the previous year. In response to this result, Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture, has decided to implement credit card payment using mobile phones from FY20 in order to further improve the convenience of credit card payment and provide an environment that makes it easier to pay.

Currently, the penetration rate of mobile phones is 88 ^%* (as of March 2007), and their functions are diversifying, such as product purchases, reservations, and applications, and they have become communication devices that are closely related to daily life in modern society. If it becomes possible to pay taxes using the communication devices that you always wear, it will create an environment where you can pay taxes anytime, anywhere without having to carry cash, and it will contribute to improving the on-time payment rate.
