【Background and Summary】
In recent years, the cashless payment ratio in Japan was 21.3% as of 2017, which is lower than that of other countries, so the Japan government is promoting various initiatives to go cashless with the aim of raising the ratio to about 40% by 2025 (*3)。 Against this backdrop, banks and other Japan financial institution are also considering new businesses to promote cashless payments.

GMO-PG has also decided to provide the Ginko Pay platform system to the Bank of Hiroshima, which plans to develop its own smartphone-based payment service utilizing the Ginko Pay platform system in the first half of FY2020 (April ~ September).
