GMO Reserve Plus Launched "Medical Referral & Scheduling Platform" to digitize referrals and appointments between medical institutions
~Reducing the response time for referrals and reservations from about 30 minutes to 5 minutes per case to help reduce workload~

GMO Internet Group's GMO Reserve Plus Co.,Ltd. ^(*1) (President & Chief Executive Officer: Soichiro Fukuma, hereinafter referred to as GMO-RP) will start offering a new "Medical Referral & Scheduling Platform" as an optional feature of the medical-specific appointment management system "Medical Innovation byGMO" from February 5, 2026 (Thursday).
This function digitizes business processes such as patient referrals, outpatient clinics, and examination appointments, which were previously done by fax or telephone between the referrer and the referral medical institution, and enables them to be securely shared and managed on the cloud, thereby improving the efficiency of collaborative work and reducing the workload of medical professionals. In the verification in the demonstration environment, we were able to confirm the effect of reducing the work time from more than 30 minutes per referral and reservation to about 5 minutes.
A patent is currently pending for the mechanism related to this function.

【Background and Summary】

In recent years, there has been a need for collaboration between medical institutions against the backdrop of the division of roles between advanced and chronic treatment, collaborative treatment by medical institutions with different specialties, seamless provision of medical care from treatment to post-recovery care, effective use of limited medical resources such as human resources and equipment, and reduction of duplicate examinations for patients.
On the other hand, many patient referrals, outpatient clinics, and examination appointments between the referral source and the referral medical institution still rely on analog methods such as fax and telephone. Therefore, collaboration with medical institutions requires time and effort from sending questionnaires and test images to confirming appointments, and issues such as duplication of input work between both the referral recipient and the referral source arise in the process.
GMO-RP, which aims to revolutionize the management of medical institutions, joined the GMO Internet Group in 2018 and provides a variety of services and functions to promote medical DX, including web consultations, online medical consultations, cashless payment linkage, and AI-based medical management analysis tools, with a SaaS-based appointment management system at its core.

"Medical Referral & Scheduling Platform" is an optional feature of the medical-specific appointment management system "Medical Innovation byGMO". Digitize processes such as patient referrals from the source medical institution to the referral medical institution, outpatient and examination appointments, and billing operations related to examination consignment fees and referral fees, etc., and provide an environment where collaboration between medical institutions can be carried out safely and in real time on the cloud. This streamlines everything from appointment management to billing between medical institutions.
This function realizes data linkage through "medical collaboration messages" that can safely send and receive data such as medical questionnaires and test images, and realizes a mechanism that allows for real-time sharing and reservation of vacant slots for outpatient visits and examinations.
Referral providers can always share outpatient and testing availability to prevent missed or duplicate referral appointments. In addition, by increasing the number of referral medical institutions through "Medical Referral & Scheduling Platform", it can be expected to be a new channel for gathering patients. As a result, a system is in place to accept more referred patients even with a limited number of people, which will also lead to an increase in the utilization rate of medical equipment and laboratories.
On the other hand, the medical institution that makes the referral can link questionnaires and test images with data, reducing the time and effort required for sending them, which leads to a reduction in the burden on staff.
