Providing the Bank of Fukuoka with a system that provides a smartphone-based payment service linked to a bank account

【Background and Summary】

GMO-PG has developed and has been offering GMO Smart payment since April 2014, a wallet-free smartphone-based payment service that allows users to payment cards at real stores such as restaurants and apparel on a smartphone app. Since these smartphone-based payment services have a high affinity with financial institution, GMO-PG is developing smartphone-based payment services and providing infrastructure systems to regional banks and financial institution by utilizing the technology and know-how cultivated through the development and provision of GMO Smart payment.
As part of this effort, in 2016, in collaboration with The Bank of Yokohama, we developed a smartphone-based payment service linked to a bank account (the Hamagin smartphone-based payment service "Hama Pay") (*2). We have now decided to expand this infrastructure system to the Bank of Fukuoka.

[About the smartphone-based payment service linked to the account of the Bank of Fukuoka]

The smartphone-based payment service, which is linked to a Fukuoka Bank account, which is scheduled to be launched in March 2018, is a service that allows you to payment by direct debit immediately from a smartphone app. Users who have an account with the Bank of Fukuoka can download the app for users to their smartphones and register their accounts in advance, so that when payment at a Bank of Fukuoka member store, they simply "check in" to the payment destination and enter their PIN, and the payment will be immediately debited from their bank account and the payment will be completed.
In addition, since this smartphone-based payment service is interlinked with The Bank of Yokohama, users who have an account with the Bank of Fukuoka can use it at The Bank of Yokohama member stores, and users of "Hama Pay" who have an account with The Bank of Yokohama can use it at the member stores of the Bank of Fukuoka.

GMO-PG will continue to deploy the "smartphone-based payment service linked to bank account" platform system to other regional banks and financial institution to support account-linked smartphone-based payment services that transcend the financial institution and region of purchaser's use.
