【Background and Summary】
In recent years, the non-Card Present Transactions market has become more accepting credit card payments, not only for online shopping and services, but also for infrastructure such as NHK broadcasting subscription fees, electricity and gas charges, and taxes and utility charge to be paid to each municipalities. In addition, the Japan government has set the promotion of cashless payment as one of the growth strategy for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games (*1), and since the spread of digitization at the time of public payment is indicated as an indicator, local taxes will be used as an indicator in the future. It is expected that the introduction of credit card payment for various fees will continue to progress.
Against this backdrop, National Tax Agency will also introduce "national tax credit card payment using the Internet" from January 4, 2017 (*2)。 In addition, from June 2017, it is planned to be linked with the national tax Electronic Filing and Payment System (e-Tax). As a result, taxpayers will be able to pay at the tax counter, Account transfer, convenience stores, etc., as well as pay by credit card on the Internet, which allows taxpayers to pay taxes anytime and anywhere.
■ Provision of GMO-PG services to National Tax Agency
GMO-PG will partner with Toyota Finance Co., Ltd., the payment trustee designated by the National Tax Agency Commissioner for "national tax credit card payment using the Internet," to create and operate the Credit card payment and "national tax credit card payment site" at the time of payment.
For more than 20 years, GMO-PG has been providing payment services for BtoC EC (consumer e-commerce) and provides payment systems specialized for "utility charge" and "public fund" payment such as taxes and fees to be paid to the country and municipalities.
Against this backdrop, National Tax Agency will also introduce "national tax credit card payment using the Internet" from January 4, 2017 (*2)。 In addition, from June 2017, it is planned to be linked with the national tax Electronic Filing and Tax Payment System (e-Tax).
