GMO Internet Group develops non-face-to-face credit card payment processing business GMO Payment Gateway, Inc. 【Background and Summary】
In today's non-Card Present Transactions market, credit card payments are being accepted not only for online shopping and services, but also for infrastructure such as NHK broadcasting subscription fees, electricity and gas charges, and taxes and utility charge paid to each municipalities. In addition, the Japan government has set the promotion of cashless payment as one of its growth strategy for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games (*1), and since it shows the spread of digitization at the time of public payment as an indicator, it is expected that the introduction of credit card payments for local taxes and various charges will continue to advance in the future.
Against this backdrop, Fukuoka City will also introduce credit card payment for individual inhabitant tax, light vehicle taxes, and fixed assets tax on April 1, 2016, in order to further improve the convenience of payers and promote on-time payment by expanding the means and opportunities for payment. In addition, the Fukuoka City Tax Credit Card Payment Site, a dedicated credit card payment site, is available in Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean, and not only Fukuoka residents but also overseas people who own real estate in Fukuoka City can pay at any time and place.
GMO-PG has partnered with Toyota Finance Co., Ltd., a designated proxy payer in Fukuoka City, to create and operate the Credit card payment at the time of payment and the "Fukuoka City Tax Credit Card Payment Site" for the payment of credit cards in Fukuoka City.
