(Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director Iku Hayashi), The six companies, Paygent Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yasushi Kamibayashi President & Chief Executive Officer, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) and Veritrans Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Takashi Okita), aim to contribute to the further development of the Internet economy by providing high-quality, safe, and secure payment services that support the ever-growing Internet commerce (EC) transactions. The "EC payment Council" was established today to exchange information on information security, "fraud countermeasures", and "business operations".

The Japan domestic e-commerce market is showing steady growth, with the BtoC market size of the Japan in FY22 being 7.8 trillion yen (up 16.3% from the previous year) and the EC ratio, an indicator of penetration rate, continuing to rise to about 2.5% (up about 0.4 points from the previous year).

payment service providers for e-commerce transaction data have supported many businesses in expanding their business in the e-commerce market by promoting merchant contract and improving the efficiency of accounting operations such as fund clearing as a bridge between e-commerce businesses and payment processing business credit card companies, as a bridge between e-commerce businesses and credit card companies.
Since payment for e-commerce handles a huge amount of important information such as credit cards, many payment service providers for e-commerce are actively working to implement robust information systems to prevent information leaks and high-level business operations based on an appropriate information security management system.
The six companies that participated in the establishment of the EC payment Council recognized that the responsibilities of payment service providers will continue to increase in the future, and that in order to respond with a sense of urgency to the increasingly complex and sophisticated level of demand, it is essential to collaborate among like-minded businesses in addition to the conventional response by individual companies payment. It was decided to establish a council.
The EC payment Council will contribute to the sound development of the EC industry in the future in terms of providing payment services by sharing information among participating companies, examining issues, and communicating with related organizations.
