The "World Heritage Site Nijo Castle Ichiguchi Castle Owner's Fundraising" is a fundraising activity for the full-scale repair of Nijo Castle that Kyoto City will carry out over a period of about 20 years from the 23rd fiscal year.

In Kyoto City, in order to preserve and pass on the World Heritage Site Nijo Castle to the next generation as an asset not only of Japan but also of the world, we are planning full-scale repairs of cultural property buildings such as the national treasure Ninomaru Palace from FY23. This full-scale repair is the first major repair since the construction of Nijo Castle by Tokugawa Ieyasu in the 8th year of Keicho (1603), and it will take about 20 years to repair and maintain all historical buildings in the castle, including the 28 cultural property buildings.

For this full-scale repair, Kyoto City will solicit donations from citizens and tourists for repair and maintenance costs as a "World Heritage Site Nijo Castle Ichiguchi Castle Owner Fundraiser" with a goal of about 5 billion yen over the 21 years from Heisei 22 to Heisei 42. Donations will be accepted from October 2, 22.
