GMO Payment Service, Inc. (President & Chief Executive Officer: Katsunari Mukai hereinafter referred to as "GMO-PS"), a consolidated company of GMO Payment Gateway, Inc. in the GMO Internet Group, will expand its "electronic barcode type" that does not require paper invoice, which is a billing method for Payment After Delivery service "GMO Payment After Delivery" for BtoC EC businesses, from September 1, 2022 (Thursday).
In the "electronic barcode type," the buyer pays by displaying the electronic barcode for payment on a smartphone instead of a paper invoice (*1) As a result, EC businesses that introduce it do not need to send and bundle paper invoice, which can improve operational efficiency and go paperless. Until now, it was only available to e-commerce businesses that provide their own apps, but now we are adding "electronic barcode type web browser version" so that more e-commerce businesses can use "electronic barcode type".
In addition, from noon today, the use of the "electronic barcode type web browser version" has started on "Tsukebarai" of the fashion EC "ZOZOTOWN" operated by ZOZO, Inc..

【Background and Summary】

The size of the Payment After Delivery service market in Japan Payment After Delivery service reached 879 billion yen in FY2020 and is expected to expand to more than 1.9 trillion yen in FY2025 (*2). As the market expands, the number of e-commerce businesses that have introduced buy now pay later payment is increasing, and there is a demand for greater convenience in buy now pay later payment operations.
On the other hand, in recent Japan, each company is working on the SDGs to realize a sustainable society, and even e-commerce businesses using "GMO Payment After Delivery" are increasingly requesting to reduce the amount of paper invoice generated when providing buy now pay later in order to promote paperless.
Therefore, GMO-PS has added a new "Electronic Barcode Type Web Browser Version" in addition to the existing "Electronic Barcode Type Smartphone App Version" in addition to the existing "Electronic Barcode Type Web Browser Version" so that more e-commerce businesses can use the "Electronic Barcode Type" that does not require paper invoice, which has been available as a billing method for "GMO Payment After Delivery" since December 2019.
"Electronic Barcode Type Web Browser Version" is a billing method in which a URL displaying an electronic barcode for convenience store payment is sent to the buyer by e-mail instead of sending a paper invoice to the buyer or shipping it together with the product, and the purchaser presents the screen of the smartphone displaying the received electronic barcode at the cash register of the convenience store and payment it. As a result, e-commerce businesses that introduce the system do not need to issue, send, or bundle invoice with products, which leads to operational efficiency, and does not require paper invoice in the provision of buy now pay later payment, making it possible to go paperless. In addition, the "smartphone app version" required an in-house app, but the "web browser version" does not require an in-house app, so it can be used by more e-commerce businesses.
With the addition of the "web browser version", the cost of issuing electronic barcodes for the "electronic barcode type" will be 170 yen per item (excluding tax) for both the "smartphone app version" and the "web browser version", which is cheaper than the issuance cost of paper invoice "sealed letter type (215 yen/item (excluding tax))" and "crimped postcard type (185 yen/item (excluding tax))".
Starting today, we will offer a special electronic barcode issuance fee of 160 yen per item (excluding tax) for six months (6 months) from contract o'clock. Please see below for details.
GMO-PS will continue to support e-commerce businesses in their DX and SDGs initiatives.
