GMO Payment Gateway, Inc. (TSE Prime Market: Securities Code: 3769, President & Chief Executive Officer: Issei Ainoura), which develops comprehensive payment-related services and finance-related services in the GMO Internet Group, has Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for the fiscal year ending September 2023 on a consolidated basis effectively zero (*1) was achieved. In response, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, we obtained a third-party assurance from SOCOTEC Certification Japan (hereinafter referred to as SOCOTEC), a GHG emissions verification organization.

【Background and Summary】
In order to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society, the Company and its consolidated companies (hereinafter referred to as "the Company") are promoting initiatives to reduce GHG emissions. In the fiscal year ended September 2022, we introduced effectively renewable enegy (*2) to power our major data centers, which consume most of the electricity in our business. Subsequently, we proceeded to introduce the system to other data centers and offices, and achieved the target of effectively zero GHG emissions (Scope 1 and 2) of our own operations on a consolidated basis for the fiscal year ending September 2023, achieving carbon neutrality. We process approximately 15 trillion yen (*3) worth of payment per year under effectively zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions, contributing to the reduction of GHG emissions for merchants who use our payment services. In order to ensure the reliability of GHG emissions, we obtained a third-party guarantee from SOCOTEC, a verification organization, on January 24, 2024 (Wednesday) (*4).
With regard to GHG emissions (Scope 3) (*5) derived from the supply chain, we have set a target of reducing Scope 3 emissions per new payment device in operation by 55% by the fiscal year ending September 202 Card Present Transactions 1 compared to the fiscal year ended September 2021. In order to achieve our targets, we are payment engaged in supply chain engagement to reduce GHG emissions (Category 1 and 11) related to the purchase and use of payment handset products, which account for the majority of them, and GHG emissions related to software development (Category 2). We are engaged in dialogue to appropriately measure and reduce GHG emissions.
In addition to promoting cashless payment (*6) with a low environmental impact, we will work to reduce the environmental impact of our customers and society by providing services that contribute to the growth of online businesses and FinTech services in Japan and overseas that provide low-environmental impact like our company, and to shift to a decarbonized society. We aim to realize a sustainable society.
