GMO Internet Group Comprehensive payment-related services and finance-related services GMO Payment Gateway, Inc. (TSE part: Securities code 3769, President & Chief Executive Officer: Issei Ainoura hereinafter referred to as GMO-PG) is a company that provides services ranging from businesses that want to easily start cross-border EC to businesses that establish local subsidiaries. In order to support a wide range of overseas e-commerce operators, FROM JAPAN Co., Ltd. (President & Chief Executive Officer: Tomohiro Kuno, hereinafter referred to as "FROM JAPAN") will provide a cross-border EC purchase agency service "Overseas sales just by wearing a banner" from August 15, 2016 (Monday) (*1). "Overseas sales just by putting on a banner" is an entry-level service for cross-border e-commerce, and GMO-PG member stores (*2) can easily sell products overseas without the need for foreign language display, payment method preparation, or delivery work by simply attaching a predetermined banner to the product page of their website.
In addition, as a support for cross-border EC business, GMO-PG is developing means of attracting customers such as overseas advertising delivery management agency, providing necessary payment method for businesses that develop cross-border EC on their own, and support services for EC businesses establishing local subsidiaries.
(*1) In order to use this service, you need to separately agree to the "Overseas sales just by putting on a banner" contract with FROM JAPAN.
(*2) Consolidated companies of GMO-PG and merchants (e-commerce businesses) who use GMO Epsilon, Inc. 's payment service can also introduce it.
【Background and Summary】
The number of foreign tourists visiting Japan in 2015 exceeded 19.73 million, an increase of 47.1% from the previous year (*3), and further increases are expected in the run-up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. Since many foreign visitors to Japan purchase products purchased or interested in during their stay in Japan through Japan EC sites after returning to Japan, the need for cross-border EC is expanding as the number of visitors to Japan increases. "Overseas sales just by putting up a banner" is a service that allows e-commerce businesses to display products and payment pages in a foreign language (*5) that is optimal for visiting overseas consumers by simply attaching a predetermined banner to the product page of the Japanese provided on their website, and complete and deliver the order. Overseas consumers who visit Japanese site can link to the dedicated FROM JAPAN site by pressing the corresponding banner, and can purchase products and payment pages that have been automatically translated into the appropriate language for each country.
In this service, FROM JAPAN purchases products on the site of an e-commerce business operator on behalf of overseas consumers, and ships and makes inquiries to overseas consumers, so e-commerce businesses do not have to prepare for overseas payment method, deliver, comply with legal systems, or respond to customers in foreign languages, and can start cross-border e-commerce without the risk of uncollected sales proceeds.
