GMO-PG's payment platform is now compatible with Android phones

GMO Internet Group Develops payment processing business for Non-Face-to-Face Credit Cards, etc. GMO Payment Gateway, Inc. (Headquarters: Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Representative Director: Kentaro Hashimoto, hereinafter referred to as "GMO-PG") announced that Connit) and Android phones will start offering in-app purchase support services by the end of June.
This service combines GMO-PG's payment service with a content billing solution built by Conit with development support from Dentsu Inc. ahead of the expansion of the Android phone market, and is a billing payment service for downloading applications and purchasing content on applications on Android phones.
Background and Overview
The global shipment of smartphones (high-performance mobile phones) exceeded 170 million units in 2009 (*1), and the number of users is expected to reach 390 million in 2013 (*2). As a result, the number of smartphone applications is also increasing, and the application market for smartphones equipped with Android alone has expanded to approximately 5.6 billion yen (*3). In addition, the number of applications for Android-equipped smartphones is expected to increase exponentially due to the tailwind of an accelerated increase in the number of compatible models, as carriers around the world plan to manufacture more smartphones in the future.
However, if you want to provide content to Android phones, such as E-commerce, e-books, video distribution, and social apps, you need to create two billing systems: one for downloading the application and one for purchasing content on the application, and you need to create a separate payment It was necessary to introduce a service.
Against this backdrop, GMO-PG and Conit have developed a system that allows Conit to purchase content on Android phones, and GMO-PG connects the payment service to realize an in-app billing support service for Android phones that can easily install the application billing and payment system. By introducing this service, content sellers can easily sell content within applications and applications for Android. This service is scheduled to be available by the end of June from PayPal Service, which is used in about 190 countries around the world, so that the in-app purchase payment service can be used on smartphones around the world.
In addition, GMO-PG is preparing to support in-app purchase support services for Android phones on the payment Platform (*4), which is being developed as a common infrastructure of its payment services, and will be able to payment method with credit cards and electronic money in the future.
