Strengthening security measures for credit card transactions

In March 2020, the Credit Transaction Security Council (* 1) announced the "Credit Card Security Guidelines" as a successor to the "Execution Plan" aimed at strengthening security measures in credit card transactions. This is the "Execution Plan 2017" announced on March 8, 2017, the "Execution Plan 2018" announced on March 1, 2018, and the "Execution Plan 2019" announced on March 4, 2019. Since the implementation deadline was reached at the end of March 2020, we have established a security approach policy as a successor. In addition, under the "Law for Partial Revision of the Installment Sales Law (Revised Installment Sales Law)" that came into effect in June 2018, non-face-to-face member stores that use Credit card payment (payment, etc.) are obliged to properly manage credit card information and take measures against fraudulent use. Therefore, it is necessary to comply with the "credit card security guidelines" that are the practical guidelines of the revised installment sales law.
(* 1) Established in March 2015 with the participation of a wide range of businesses involved in credit transactions and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
