As the first in this series, we have developed an embedded multi-payment terminal in collaboration with NAYAX Inc. (Representative Director: Hiroshi Matsumoto, hereinafter referred to as "NAYAX") and will start offering it in January 2018. This is a version of NAYAX's cashless payment terminal "VPOS Touch", which is available in 55 countries around the world, for the domestic market, and adds the function of "Visa payWave", a contactless payment that allows you to payment a card by simply holding a card or mobile device.

(President & Chief Executive Officer: Daisuke Honjo, hereinafter referred to as "Ito-en"), and will be installed sequentially in each branch of Resona Bank, Limited. (Kazuhiro President & Chief Executive Officer Higashi, hereinafter referred to as "Resona Bank") from January 2018.

[Background and overview of the development of embedded payment terminals for vending machines]

As cashless payments progress around the world, the Japan government has also proposed that it aim to double the ratio of cashless payment to about 40% in the next 10 years (by June 2027) (*1), so it is expected that cashless payment will be required in various situations in the future.

Under these circumstances, contactless payment, which allows smart payment by simply holding a card or mobile device, is attracting attention, and contactless payment using "Visa payWave" has been introduced in 71 countries and regions around the world. "Visa payWave" is a highly secure payment service that complies with the international security standard EMV (*2), and allows users to payment by simply holding a compatible Visa card (credit, debit, or prepaid) or mobile device over a dedicated payment terminal.

Against this backdrop, GMO-FG has decided to develop a series of embedded payment terminals in order to promote cashless payment for vending machines and automated service machines, which is called the "Unattended Market." As the first in the series, in collaboration with NAYAX, we have changed the specifications of the company's cashless payment terminal "VPOS Touch" for the domestic market and developed an embedded multi-payment terminal that supports contactless payment with "Visa payWave", which will be available in January 2018.

In addition, this embedded multi-payment terminal will be used in Ito-en's beverage vending machines as the first place to introduce it, and from January 2018, vending machines equipped with embedded multi-payment terminals will be installed at each branch of Resona Bank. In October 2017, Resona Bank began issuing debit cards equipped with Visa payWave, which can be issued instantly, so users who have been issued a compatible card can immediately experience contactless payment at vending machines.

*2 EMV is a unified standard for credit cards equipped with IC chips formulated by international card brands Visa and MasterCard. The name "EMV" is derived from the initials "M" and "V" of the two companies, as well as the initial "E" of Europay International, which operated the MasterCard brand in Europe at the time the standard was formulated.
